What is ROOFsoaker

ROOFsoaker is a preventative fire defense system to help reduce the risk of ignition due to ember attack. With 90% of home fires during a wildfire being caused by flying hot embers, protecting the roof and immediate surrounding areas of a property helps reduce the chance of a home fire starting. Being gutter mounted, these units are designed to be attached from ground level so there is no need for ladders or climbing on roofs.

Very Quick. Very Safe. Very Effective.

ROOFsoaker gutter mounted units are manufactured from Stainless Steel with high quality Brass fittings. Essential to giving confidence that the sprinkler will not fail at the critical moment, each unit is individually tested before shipping.

The unique gutter mounted stainless steel bracket system with adjustable angling, means that these units can be mounted onto your gutters using any regular painters pole or broom handle. The adjustable foot can be moved to ensure that the sprinkler matches the angle of most roofs making sure that the whole area is protected.

Engineered to be water efficient, these low maintenance units can be run from the city water supply, or can use pumped water from a swimming pool, lake or tank. Using standard garden hose (¾” GHT) fittings means you can purchase any additional hoses or fittings from your local hardware store making it very convenient.

How It Works

RoofSoaker is an extremely efficient roof sprinkler system to help extinguish hot flying embers in the event of a wildfire. These unique gutter mounted discharge nozzles provide an even but dense spread of water droplets up to 70’ in diameter. This coverage of buildings, structures, fences, and vegetation creates a wet layer on all surfaces, as well as providing a micro-climate and reduced ambient air temperature. This cooler moist environment results in embers being suppressed before they are able to ignite any potential fuel that may be present.

Various studies in both the USA and Australia have proved that creating this high humidity, reduced temperature bubble around a structure, greatly improves the chances of surviving a wildfire. This together with maintaining defensible space around a property in accordance with local fire department guidelines gives an ember attack reduced chance of ignition.

The roof is the most vulnerable surface of any home, garage, etc.,, usually being hot and dry. Any potential fuels (leaves, twigs, pine needles etc.) are usually the first to ignite unless removed or sprinkled. The other fact that hot embers can travel in the air up to a mile in advance of a fire is a serious consideration if a roof is left unprotected.

Many wildfires are often accompanied by a strong wind, and if mounted in accordance with the supplied instructions, these wind proof units can actually use the wind to assist in better coverage.

Once mounted and operating, these units will continue to operate unsupervised, so if a property has to be vacated, they can be left running. Obviously, any reduction in water pressure or total disruption of the water supply will affect the effectiveness of RoofSoaker.

Disclaimer

Although ROOFsoaker is a highly effective sprinkler system, it cannot protect buildings, structures or occupants from a wildfire. Wildfires have proved to be unpredictable, resulting in unexpected exposure to flames and radiant heat which ROOFsoaker is not designed for. ROOFsoaker is intended to be used in conjunction with maintenance of defensible space and other measures recommended by local fire departments, and will help reduce the risk of ember ignition in the event of an ember attack. To the extent permissible by law, purchasers install and operate ROOFsoaker at their own risk and release and indemnify the manufacturers and suppliers of ROOFsoaker and their directors, officers, servants, agents, employees and assigns from and against all actual, direct, indirect or alleged claims, damages, demands, losses, costs, liabilities, suits, actions, expenses or proceedings of whatsoever nature, whether arising under any statute or at common law, arising out of or in connection with injury to (which shall include illness) or death of any person or damage to or destruction of any real or personal property caused directly or indirectly by or in connection with the manufacture, supply, installation, operation or performance of ROOFsoaker. ROOFsoaker is not responsible for the water source, lack of water pressure, or any disruption of water supply to its products.
